Advice for endovenous laser therapy patients
If you have undergone endovenous laser therapy, you may resume normal activities. There are a few exceptions and some suggestions which you should follow following the procedure:
- Try to walk at least 20 minutes twice a day. You may walk more if you wish. Walking will help the legs to recover more quickly.
- Refrain from taking a hot bath for 72 hours. You may shower and clean the treated leg.
- Please also refrain from vigorous gym exercises or running for 72 hours.
- Do not fly for one week.
- Avoid exposure to excessive sun for two weeks.
- It is normal to experience bruising, soreness and a tightening sensation in the 2-3 week period following treatment. This should begin to subside after two weeks. You can take over the counter pain medications for your discomfort.
- You will need to wear compression stockings for the advised period, taking them off to shower, but leaving them on the rest of the day and night.
